- ➤ Virginia Beach public works employees were thanked Monday for removing homophobic graffiti from the Rainbow Crosswalk in the ViBe Creative District. The gathering celebrated their work from Dec. 23 with local leaders and artist Isabella Thompson amid new artwork that reinforces community inclusivity. WHRO
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Dominion Energy said its Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project (27 to 44 miles offshore) is over 70% complete after a stop-work order cost $228 million. It will start sending power to the grid by late March with full construction finishing early next year. WHRO
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The House of Delegates is set to consider a bill that would credit high school students for Black history courses. The proposal, introduced by Delegate David Reid and amended by Senator Schuyler VanValkenburg (a civics instructor), will be discussed this week. WHRO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials will begin construction on the Violet Bank Trail in Kempsville this March to improve pedestrian safety and connectivity; the six-tenths-of-a-mile path will connect Violet Bank Drive and Selwood Drive and offer safer routes to local spots. WTKR
