Check-in is at 8 a.m. — the race starts at 9:30 a.m. — and the event will raise funds for local scholarships with a $40 registration fee.

Young Life Capernaum offers a safe program for youth and a Friends for Life segment that helps young adults with disabilities build friendships and adjust when state services end at age 22.

A fire broke out early Thursday morning at a two-story apartment complex on Bantry Lane in Bayside when an unattended candle ignited the building, displacing eight residents and prompting fire crews to control the blaze by 1:16 a.m.—no injuries were reported.

Food trucks from The Great Food Truck Race will come to Virginia Beach on Saturday at 11 a.m. at 31st Street Park (part of the 15th Annual East Coast She-Crab Soup Classic) where chef Tyler Florence will help judge as ten local restaurants compete with their she-crab soup recipes.
