  • Meteorologist Taylor Stephenson explained that climate change is causing Yoshino Cherry trees to bloom earlier in Virginia Beach — a change seen at Red Wing Park during its annual cherry blossom festival. Experts warn that if global temperatures keep rising, peak bloom could occur up to a month earlier by 2100.  13News Now

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Developer Katie Denton is restoring a two-story brick home built in 1965 in the North End near the beach by fixing the crawl space, opening walls for three steel beams and adding new windows, HVAC, water heaters and a kitchen while keeping original hardwood floors, brick walls and copper pipes that are hard to replace. She expects the renovations to be done by mid-May and says the work will help preserve local history — a benefit to the neighborhood marked on the National and State Registers of Historic Places.  WTKR
