ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two adults, three children and four dogs were displaced after a garage fire in the 3300 block of Upper Palace Green Monday evening — crews arrived at 6:50 p.m. and contained the fire by 7:20 p.m. with no injuries reported and the cause under investigation.  WAVY
  • On Friday at 2:40 p.m., crews responded to a three-vehicle crash on the 26200 block of Lankford Highway after a dark gray SUV hydroplaned across the median—striking two vehicles and causing serious injuries that led to the hospitalization of several children and adults at Virginia Beach General, Children's Hospital of King's Daughters and Riverside Hospital—while officials reported no signs of alcohol use.  WAVY

CRIME NEWS

  • Virginia Beach police confirmed three shootings in a 24 hour period with two incidents possibly connected when a robbery shooting on Sassafras Court left two men hospitalized and a 17 year old injured, while a separate shooting on Haygood Road at 9:17 p.m. hurt two men, one in serious condition, and a woman — officials said all suspects are in custody though no formal charges have been filed yet.  13News Now
  • Virginia Beach police responded to a ShotSpotter call at the 3rd Precinct on April 3—finding shell casings and damage to a nearby building—leading to the arrest of three suspects, including one juvenile, after a search revealed a concealed handgun with an extended magazine.  WAVY

HEALTH NEWS

  • A $200,000 grant is funding LEAP’s abuse prevention training for adults with disabilities to come to Hampton Roads; the program teaches people to spot abuse and set healthy boundaries. It will launch in 2026 and runs four 90-minute in-person sessions—led by adults with disabilities who share their own experiences.  13News Now
