CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested Brian Burton after a resident on the 600 block of Oleander Circle called 911 about bullet holes, which led officers to find 54-year-old Christine Donahue’s body outside a neighboring Kempsville home—officials have not released further details on their connection.  WTKR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Virginia lawmakers were briefed Monday on the potential impacts of federal Medicaid cuts using data showing most voters oppose the proposed changes. The briefing follows federal legislation targeting $880 billion in cuts—proposals that may affect more than 1.9 million Virginians enrolled in Medicaid programs.  13News Now
  • The SUN Bucks program will return this summer to help eligible Virginia and North Carolina families by giving $120 for groceries for school-age children while school is out *Families receiving SNAP, TANF, FDPIR, or other income-based benefits and those with children eligible for free or reduced meals are automatically enrolled, although Virginia residents not automatically enrolled can apply by mailing a form to the Virginia Department of Social Services*.  WAVY
