- ➤ A man died and three others were injured in a crash on South Military Hwy in Virginia Beach on Thursday morning when officers arrived at about 9:05 a.m.—Reginald Lee Jr. was taken to the hospital before he died as northbound lanes near Drift Tide Drive and Dyer Place were closed. WAVY

- ➤ Michael Shippy, accused of a fatal hit-and-run that killed Thomas Moore on Jan. 31 along Bonney Road, appeared in court Thursday asking for a bond change which was denied — a traffic safety officer and an eyewitness testified while investigators linked a black SUV to the crash. Shippy remains in jail with his next court date set for June 30. WAVY

- ➤ Virginia Beach Lifeguarding Service announced that starting this week through Labor Day weekend, dogs are banned on the Oceanfront beaches due to heavy tourist traffic, with the rule applying all day between 2nd and 42nd Streets and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the North End (between 42nd and 80th Streets) (dogs may return after Labor Day weekend). - ➤ Governor Glenn Youngkin ordered flags to be flown at half staff on state and local buildings today to honor the 12 victims of the 2019 Virginia Beach Municipal Center shooting. The City of Virginia Beach will host a remembrance ceremony behind City Hall and plans to finish a memorial with a survivor’s grove, hero tree, and reflection pool by next spring. 13News Now
