CRIME NEWS

  • Officials said a 49-year-old inmate, Michael Margulies, died by suicide during a routine cell check on Wednesday at about 5:40 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center — he was scheduled for release on July 21 after serving a one-year six-month sentence and was taken to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:18 p.m. while authorities investigate the incident.  WAVY

  • Today, Hampton Roads Pride weekend begins with the 12th annual Pride Block Party in NorVa featuring local DJs and drag queens for people 18 and up, while Saturday offers a free PrideFest Boat Parade at Town Point Park in Norfolk with local and regional talent and family activities. Sunday in Virginia Beach brings a 21+ Ultimate Pride Drag Brunch at Rainbow Cactus starting at 11 a.m.—it will be followed by the 757 Pride March at 3 p.m. along the Oceanfront boardwalk and Pride at the Beach at Neptune’s Park at 4 p.m.  WAVY
