- ➤ On Thursday morning, VBPD said a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Indian River and Parkland Lane left one person injured (it is unclear if the victim was taken to a hospital). WAVY
- ➤ A fire at an apartment building on Keelboat Circle displaced four people and killed one cat after it was reported at 3:25 p.m., with firefighters containing the blaze by 3:50 p.m.—the Red Cross and Animal Control are helping those affected. WAVY
- ➤ A fire broke out in a Virginia Beach apartment complex on Thursday afternoon, forcing three adults and a child to evacuate as crews from the Virginia Beach Fire Department brought the blaze under control in 20 minutes — a cat died — and the Red Cross is helping the family find temporary housing while investigators check the cause. 13News Now

- ➤ Virginia Beach high school students can no longer use their phones during lunch after Tuesday’s school board vote on Policy 5-52.1 — the change follows over 6,600 recorded violations last year and aligns with Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s bell to bell ban. 13News Now
- ➤ Virginia Beach City Public Schools started their free SUN Meals program this week at Brookwood and Luxford Elementary Schools — offering breakfast, lunch, fruit, and vegetables Monday through Thursday until August 12. The program is run with the USDA and comes as similar meal services launch in other districts across the region. WTKR

- ➤ Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation got a $23.8M grant on Tuesday to fund the next phase of the VB Trail that will extend the eastern part by 2.8 miles to link South Birdneck Road with London Bridge Road. The design work will begin in 2027 and construction will start in 2031—2032. WTKR
