A boat overturned near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on Friday at about 10:18 a.m., and VBFD confirmed that all four people had safely moved to rocks on the second island.

Elbow Road reopened Thursday ahead of the Fourth of July weekend, restoring a key connection between Virginia Beach and Chesapeake with a new bridge & extended guardrails for safety; nearby, construction continues on the Virginia Beach side, and lane closures will still occur as work wraps up.
