A marsh fire along the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River on July 4 was quickly tackled by firefighters+ a nearby restoration worker who used his boat to reach the flames.

Burned brush is visible from backyards at Carolanne Point Circle as neighbors recall the night.

A brush fire broke out in a marsh near Whitehurst Landing Drive late Saturday night and was controlled by VBFD crews by Sunday morning (at 1:27 a.m.) with no injuries reported.
