- ➤ The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center received $3.2 million for repairs and operations after City Council approved the plan Tuesday night in an 11-0 vote. The aquarium will use its foundation money to pay 60 percent of the cost while studies show it needs over 8-million dollars in updates for aging exhibits and building issues. WTKR
- ➤ Eight members of Virginia Beach's Swiftwater Rescue Team deployed Sunday evening to Texas to help rescue those affected by deadly floods and brought specialized boats and gear — equipment they use in their regular training to support search and rescue missions at the request of Texas emergency management — as part of a state-wide emergency effort. The team remains one of about 30 Virginia-based units prepared to respond during disasters. 13News Now
