Tomorrow, July 15, Naval Air Station Oceana and Virginia Beach will hold routine training exercises to practice emergency responses for simulated aircraft incidents on the installation — emergency services personnel and vehicles will respond to pre-staged events while smoke and extra vehicles may be seen nearby. The training is not open to the public.

Virginia Beach’s Swiftwater Rescue Team deployed last Sunday evening to Texas where catastrophic flooding has claimed lives and worsened conditions as search operations face rising detections of human remains.

The team traveled over 1,500 miles with specialized equipment (boats, life jackets, helmets) and is working with local agencies to support flood response efforts.
