ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash in Town Center near Pembroke Square left two people injured, one seriously, after police responded at about 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Virginia Beach Blvd. and Market St. (Traffic was blocked for at least an hour as crews cleared the scene.)  WAVY
  • Virginia Beach police responded to a vehicle crash on Indian River Road near Lifetime Circle Thursday morning and closed both directions while advising motorists to use alternate routes—there is no set time for reopening.  WAVY

CRIME NEWS

  • The Virginia Beach Police Department conducted a multi-day operation from July 14 to July 17, 2025 that targeted the EBK gang by executing eight search warrants in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake—resulting in 74 indictments and the recovery of 13 firearms, ammunition, narcotics, and other evidence.  WAVY
  • Landyn Davis, a Virginia Beach boy who was shot in the head over a year ago, took his first unassisted steps using a gait trainer and will return to school with his wheelchair—Bayside Harley Davidson in Portsmouth is hosting a fundraising Ride the Rhyme of the Islands this Saturday to support his foundation helping families affected by gun violence.  WAVY
  • A jury in Virginia Beach convicted Jamieson Francis of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in a June 15 shooting that killed 20-year-old Lonnie Harvey Jr. near a graduation party outside Northgate Park — his sentencing is set for November 3.  13News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Traci Ratcliff Miller will become the first female postmaster for Virginia Beach when she is sworn in at noon Tuesday, July 30 at the Central Library (open to the public). She brings over 20 years of postal service experience (including roles in Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Hampton Roads) and will lead mail and package operations.  13News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bon Secours opened its new Urgent Care and Imaging Center on Columbus Street on Thursday morning during a ribbon-cutting ceremony near a busy part of town. The facility includes urgent care, imaging for X-rays and ultrasounds, and a state-of-the-art physical therapy center, and it will offer extended hours Monday through Friday for local patients—bridging the gap between primary care and emergency services.  13News Now
