Men of Faith and First Tee + Hampton Roads are teaming up to mentor Virginia Beach middle school boys by teaching golf skills and life lessons, with a kickoff event at Topgolf for 20 Bayside Middle School students.

The program plans to grow its support with more mentors, volunteers, and donations.

The Virginia Beach School Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to convert Bayside 6th Grade Campus into a community park — a plan in development for 10 years following campus consolidation — and the project will cost about $1 million for demolition and property preparation as school board and city leaders work on final agreements.
