- ➤ On Monday, Owl Creek Landing opened a new spiral slide called The Whorl at the Nautilus Lookout Tower behind the Virginia Aquarium’s south building in Virginia Beach. The 117-foot slide is mostly enclosed — riders use special mats for a safe ride. WTKR

- ➤ Four Virginia Beach startups—Attorney Live, Crunchy Hydration, EdLogics, and SalesE—will pitch four-minute ideas at the Startup World Cup regional competition on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts; the firms aim to advance to the global finals in October for a chance to win $1 million. 13News Now
- ➤ TEGNA Inc., owner of 13News Now, and Nexstar Media Group, owner of WAVY, announced a $6.2 billion all-cash merger that will create the nation’s largest local broadcasting company—pending regulatory and shareholder approval, the deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026 and add 265 television stations. 13News Now

- ➤ Ashley Walton of Virginia Beach pleaded guilty Tuesday to two felony charges for concealing a dead body and being an accessory after the fact after she helped hide her boyfriend Martrell Lamar's body, who disappeared on July 2nd, 2024 and was later found in a drainage ditch in Pasquotank County, and investigators said she enlisted help from Antwaine Branch—who is also facing charges. 13News Now
- ➤ Jayden Wallace, a 23-year-old from Virginia Beach, was sentenced to six months in prison Tuesday for hitting a state trooper on November 20 and fleeing the scene — his sentence includes five years of good behavior and a restitution order of $1,783.73 — as detailed by the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
