CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Ashley Walton (36) of Knotts Island pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges for concealing a body and being an accessory after the fact in connection with missing boyfriend Martrell Lamar (42), whose remains were found months later after he was reported missing. WTKR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ More than 100 Virginia Beach Public Schools employees have sued superintendent Donald Robertson Jr. in circuit court, alleging he hid plans for steep health insurance premium hikes by ending subsidies after contracts were signed to keep staff from leaving— the suit seeks damages and injunctions to pause the increases while a school board meeting is set for August 27th at 6 p.m. and a rally is planned for Sunday. 13News Now

- ➤ Red flags were flying at the Oceanfront on Friday after Hurricane Erin passed, and Chief Tom Gill (of the Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service) said today the flags will be raised again as new rip currents make the water dangerous. He noted that beachgoers obeyed orders to stay out of the water during the storm and that officials will continue to monitor the conditions. WTKR
