- ➤ At the Virginia Beach fire training center, a 30-foot memorial made from steel from the World Trade Center was dedicated Thursday morning to honor the lives lost during the September 11 attacks—its pentagon-shaped base and nearby trees also pay tribute to the Pentagon and Shanksville tragedies. - ➤ Virginia Beach will honor Grammy-winning producer Timbaland with a weekend celebration from Oct. 17 to Oct. 19 that includes the unveiling of 'Timbaland Way,' a parade in Salem, a Coastal Edge block party, and a concert at The NorVa. City leaders will present him with the Key to the City as he returns home to celebrate his impact on music—most events are free with limited tickets for a private social available today. 13News Now

- ➤ After political activist Charlie Kirk was killed yesterday, Virginia lawmakers urged everyone to lower harsh words and work together amid growing fears of political violence — as schools canceled classes for safety. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Sentara Health said providers can write prescriptions for COVID vaccines scheduled for 2025 and 2026 based on their clinical judgment as new Virginia Department of Health guidance clears up confusion over access. FDA criteria let adults 65 and older or people with serious medical conditions get a shot at retail pharmacies without a prescription. WTKR
- ➤ Sentara Health addressed patient concerns after some eligible patients were denied COVID-19 vaccination prescriptions due to unclear federal and local guidance, and the health system now stocks updated 2025-2026 vaccines following a September 10 standing order from the Virginia Department of Health.
