  • Several people in Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina heard a loud boom Sunday evening, with some saying it sounded like an explosion—or a car crash. Authorities have not confirmed the source and the US Geological Survey reported no seismic activity at that time.  WTKR

  • Virginia’s upcoming leaders face pressure to reduce toxic pollutants in Chesapeake Bay as environmental groups warn that emerging contaminants like microplastics and PFAS threaten water quality and human health. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation called for closing regulatory loopholes and strengthening penalties for polluters — measures that will be debated as the elections approach.  13News Now
