Tropical Storm Humberto has formed northeast of the Caribbean, 500 miles north of the Leeward Islands, and is moving at 15 mph with winds of 40 mph— it will strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane by Saturday afternoon and is expected to curve out to sea next week while Invest 94-L is tracked for possible development with heavy rain and gusty winds affecting nearby areas.

Virginia taxpayers can now check their eligibility for a fall tax rebate of up to $400, with joint filers eligible for $400 and individual filers for $200 if they file or will file their 2024 state taxes by November 3.

Those who filed by July 1 will receive their rebates by October 15—tax refunds coming by direct deposit or paper check while amounts owed to state or local agencies are deducted.
