- ➤ Virginia Beach EMS started the EMS Duty Physician Program in 2019 to send doctors with paramedics on 911 calls so that residents receive hospital-level care at their homes — more than 20 volunteer doctors work in the program, including Dr. Joe Lang who works one eight-hour shift monthly.
