- ➤ The alleged leader of the MS-13 gang, a 24-year-old from El Salvador, was arrested in Virginia yesterday as part of a national effort to fight illegal immigration and gang violence, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said. The Virginian-Pilot
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Virginia Beach City Public Schools may raise ticket prices by 10% for sporting events to cover extra costs for coaching salaries, equipment upgrades, and security. The school board will vote on the proposal April 8 and if approved the changes will take effect for the school year starting in 2025 and ending in 2026 — concerns over rising costs prompted the plan. - ➤ Virginia is set to use new technology under HB2096 to slow speeding drivers by letting judges require a device in a car that stops it from going over the speed limit when a driver is convicted of reckless driving or speeding over 100 mph+ if the governor accepts the amendment, the law will go into effect in July. - ➤ The City Council scrapped the $3M design for a pedestrian-friendly Atlantic Avenue after rising costs made the elaborate overhaul too expensive.
